Sterile compounding is the preparation of custom medications for patients in a sterile environment to prevent contamination and maintain patient safety. This work requires sterile equipment and state-of-the-art facilities, along with the ability to comply with regulatory routine inspections. We undergo rigorous procedures to make sure our compounding environment is sanitized beyond the requirements, to produce the safest and highest quality medication.
Maintaining a sterile environment requires a constant, ongoing commitment to quality and safety. In 2016, we achieved the highest standard by earning a PCAB® accreditation. We are proud to say that we have met and exceed PCAB’s rigorous standards for sterile and non-sterile compounding. We are also 1 of only 2 compounding pharmacies in Massachusetts PCAB accredited for both high risk sterile and non-sterile compounding.
The PCAB® seal of Accreditation confirms our commitment to providing personalized solutions that meet the medical needs for our patients and healthcare providers in the community.
At Boulevard Pharmaceutical Compounding Center, our recently renovated labs (in 2016) meet the proposed USP <800> standard that is expected to be implemented in December of 2019. We have specifically designed our laboratory with designated rooms for hazard and non-hazard compounding. Our pharmacists prepare medication according to chapter <797>, which lays out regulatory standards for sterile compounding preparations.
